Sharks II in good win against a ‘youthful’ Folkestone Vets team

Anti-aging techniques have come on leaps and bounds in recent times, so much so in fact that you could be forgiven in thinking that the Folkestone team we faced tonight were not actually the battle weary Veterans they claimed to be!! Anyhow, you can only beat who is put in front of you, and that’s exactly what we set out to do here.

Following on from a sturdy string of performances in the last few games, we began well going 18-10 up at the end of the 1st quarter. Into the 2nd and our scoring continued at the same pace, but the defense slackened a bit giving us a 36-26 advantage at the half.

All of a sudden one of the Veterans was seen entering the Shark Tank (AKA the Becket centre to most of us!!). But this was not one of the Folkestone team, it was in fact Tyrannosaurus Todge and his Valley of Death!! Desperately in need of some game time ahead of the annual Dartford Vs Hanau fixture, he was weaved into the fold for the second half.

With the defense reordered and the confidence high we posted our best quarter offensively in the 3rd period. Using the dimensions of the court well we took our chances inside, outside and on the break finishing the 3rd 15 points ahead.

While keeping up the efforts in the front court, another game began to develop at the other end which was to see who from our team could get fouled out the quickest. It was a close run thing, but Shilo just pipped it with Todge following moments later (well Shilo did have a head start in fairness I suppose!!).

Distractions aside, we ended the game with a decent shooting display which included three 3-pointers from Michal who was top scorer for the night, and we now enjoy a well-deserved rest after 2 games in a week.

Final Score: 73-54
