Sharks II finish the season with a trip to sunny Folkestone

The sun was shining brightly on the 7 players and their families who were able to make the Sunday afternoon road trip to Folkestone today. Before you ask, no this wasn’t just an excuse for a team jolly, we did have a game to play too.

Folkestone had clearly decided to have a rethink on their veteran policy, and had a full squad of 12 to use to their advantage for the game.

Excuses aside, the game began with a good intensity from both teams with Folkestone only taking the 1st quarter 22-16 due to a great display from beyond the arc.

Folkestone used their extra legs to pile the pressure on defensively stepping up to all inbound passes throughout the game forcing us to work hard the whole length of the court. That said we were still very much in it at 39-29 at the half, then 52-40 going into the 4th period.

In an action packed final quarter as they so often are, we continued to battle against the odds to get back into the game. Unfortunately that task was just beyond us today despite notching up 24 points, as they took the quarter 27-24 and our last league game of the 2013/14 season.

Good effort Sharks, now let’s get ready for the Plate Final on 29th March against Maidstone….

Final Score: 79-64

Sharks Scorers: Andrzejewski 19, Plail 17, Yogev 12, Dickson 6, Whitaker 4, Stopford 2, Torreggiani 2.

(Yes I know that only adds up to 62 but there was a mystery basket on the sheet which I’ll happily claim if nobody else does!!)
