Sharks II progress in Medway Plate

Thursday 29th January – Dartford Sharks II Vs Erith Crows – Medway League Div 2

Following on from the late disappointment in our last game against Crows we knew we would have to be more consistent if we wanted the result tonight. With a full bench and even Mr T (Torreggiani!) surprising us all by turning up before tip-off, the 1st quarter got going.

Both teams were creating the chances from early on but as our shot percentage took a while to pick up and the defense was a bit leaky Crows took the 1st 10-17. The 2nd quarter is where we came alive and showed what we are capable of by going on a 15-0 run to take the lead for the first time in the game and go into the 3rd up 34-26.

However in a game of fits and starts with more than a handful of fouls to break the flow, the lead changed hands several times to keep us all on our toes til the end. Crows won the 3rd to take a slim 2 point advantage into the 4th.

In the closest quarter of the game Crows had 19 shots from the foul line, but only able to take 8 points from this we would remain in the fight and find ourselves 66-61 up with 30 seconds to go. A moment of madness saw us needlessly foul them from 3 point range with only 7 seconds left. Time out to the Sharks to recompose, and thankfully we came to our senses to run out winners 66-62.

Final Score: 66-62

Sharks Scorers: Plail 13, Smee 13, Marsh 12, Yogev 10, Sabunas 6, Whitaker 5, Rowlett 3, Moradpour
