Sharks II shaky after fixture break

Thursday 12th March – Dartford Sharks II Vs Maidstone Warriors U18s

Following an unwelcome 3 week break in games for Sharks II, it was back to the action tonight at home to Maidstone U18s. Having shown a good run of form in 2015 so far we hoped to pick up where we left off ahead of next week’s Plate semi-final tie. A couple of absentees meant that we only had 1 natural inside player for the night and so coach Webb stepped in at the last minute to help bolster the squad numbers.

From the off it was apparent that the balance of the team was a bit lacking as we struggled to find the killer passes to create the openings we had enjoyed in the other 2 meetings against the U18s this season. That said, Maidstone also began a little slow as we took the 1st 21-10. However the next 2 quarters were much more closely contested with our lead being cut to as little as 6 points at times. Maidstone took the 2nd 14-17 and the 3rd was shared 18-18.

We needed to up our efforts in the 4th if we were to put any distance between us and Maidstone and post a respectable score. Luckily we still had something in the tank as our best quarter of the game saw Sharks combine an improved team performance with 8 different players contributing towards a 19-8 score line.

Final Score: 72-53

Sharks Scorers: Webb 14, Marsh 10, Sabunas 10, Whitaker 10, Plail 9, Stopford 9, Rowlett 7, Fitchett 3.
