Sharks I advance to Medway cup final

Fresh off of securing the league title the Sharks were back in action looking to defend the Cup. This week the Sharks were away to Guru and history has taught us that this would be a tough and intense atmosphere and lets just say history repeated itself.

The earlier in the season the Sharks needed overtime to defeat Guru on their home court and truth be told we were fortunate to have taken the game to overtime. The Sharks took this message to heart and started the first quarter strong and took a 7 point lead into the second quarter. Guru came out strong in the second quarter and the Shark defence looked non existent as Guru put up 27 points in the quarter and took a 2 point lead into the 3rd quarter.

The intensity of the game and maybe the pressure of a place in the final was starting to show as the Sharks were going away from their game plan and were clearly becoming frustrated with their execution.

The 3rd quarter was a different story as the Sharks came out on fire putting up 27 points of their own. The Sharks were getting contributions from everyone whether it was solid shooting, making the extra pass to find the open man or securing a rebound the Sharks looked like a team poised for the final.

The 4th quarter saw Guru make a run but the Sharks responded and although it was not pretty they got the job done.

This game can serve as a good summary of the Sharks season as there was a little bit of everything, brilliant play, stellar defence, frustration, lack of execution, what looks like sleep walking at times but when push comes to shove the Sharks rally together for the victory.

Up next the Sharks look to complete the double by winning the cup against a motivated and streaking Bromley Fury
