Medway Cup Semi Final: Dartford Sharks I vs Bromley

Last season saw these two teams battling for the Cup Final, this year they were battling for a place in the final. Bromley have provided a tough challenge in all of our league fixtures this year and this match was more of the same. As they entered the gym you could tell Bromley and one mission…to avenge last seasons’ Finals loss.

The match started and a blistering pace with both teams battling hard and trying to establish their game plan. The Sharks were able to assert themselves and take a 9 point lead into the second quarter due to some solid defence and sound ball movement on offence. The second and third quarter saw Bromley punishing the Sharks for their mistakes and converting some tough baskets. This appeared to have deflated the Sharks. This was highlighted at the end of the 3rd quarter where Bromley hit a buzzer beater to take the lead going into the 4th quarter. Bromley had the momentum; they were 10 minutes away from avenging last years’ finals loss. As the time was ticking down the big question was…is this the end of Dartford’s reign as 2 time cup champion? The question was asked and answered as the Sharks started to score and went on a little run to take back the lead, a lead I might add that they never relinquished.

Bromley provided yet again another tough challenge and some would argue were deserving of the win but alas the Sharks dream of a 3peat continues.

Sharks are going to be facing a very determined Wizards team who will be looking to end the dream of a 3peat.

Final Score : 71 - 67

Sharks Scorers : Maher 23, Braknys 9, Long 8, Schreiber 8, Andrzejewski 7, Kraft 6, Demmon 5, Radz 4, Marsh 1
